The profile of the journalThe Annals of 'Valahia' University of Târgovişte. Letters Section  is that of a cultural publication, displaying a large area of interests: literature, linguistics, literary criticism, history and literary theory, philosophical studies, didactics. The first issue of the journal appeared in 2003, within the Letters Department, the current History-Letters Department, Faculty of Humanities, 'Valahia' University of Târgovişte.

Up to 2010 the journal appeared annually, and starting with 2011 it has become a biannual publication. As far as the editing languages are concerned, up to 2010 the journal accepted articles in French, English, Spanish and Italian and it was structured on two sections: while the first section  covered literary and cultural studies, the second section was dedicated to questions of linguistics and didactics. Starting with 2011, the journal will only accept articles elaborated in English and French, while all abstracts must be written exclusively in English. 

The Scientific and Editorial Board of the journal consists of esteemed scientific personalities from Romania and from abroad: Prof. Radu Ştefan Vergatti, 'Valahia' University of Târgovişte, member of the Academy of Romanian Scientists, Cecile Vilvandre de Sousa, Castilla-la Mancha University, Ciudad Real, Spain, Prof. Gheorghe Bârlea, 'Ovidius' University of Constanţa, Prof. Maria Magdalena Jianu , 'Constantin Brâncuşi' University, Târgu Jiu, Prof. Silviu Angelescu, University of Bucharest, etc. The journal's intellectual authority is due both to the prestige of the Scientific Board's members and to the contributors and their capacity to relate to the significant events of the cultural life.

The articles published in the journal single themselves out by the novelty and richness of information, by the scientific rigour and personal interpretation, opening up new horizons for further research in the fields of culture, literature, linguistics and didactics.
