FUTURE DIRECTIONS IN DRYING RESEARCH  Drying is an important step in the manufacturing of many products, especially wood. Over the next 50 or 100 years energy will become more expensive, carbon emissions will become a commodity, a cleaner environment will be mandated, and the need for quality-dried wood will increase. How these factors affect research and what drying might look like in the future as a result are discussed.

Rezumat
Uscarea este un pas important in prelucrarea multor produse, in special a lemnului. Peste 50 sau 100 de ani energia va deveni mult mai scumpa, emisiile de carbon vor deveni un produs, un mediu curat va deveni ceva obligatoriu, iar cererea de lemn uscat de calitate va creste. Modul in care acesti factori afecteaza cercetarea si cum ar putea arata uscarea lemnului in viitor ca rezultat al acestora, vom discuta in continuare.
